Registration, Fees & Policies

Registration for individual and Suzuki music lessons may be completed by phone (860-486-1073) or in person at the CSA office only.
Registration for group classes and ensembles may be completed: 

(a) Online at

(b) By mail with check payable to “Town of Mansfield/MCC” enclosed (see Forms)

(c) In person at Community School of the Arts, Drama-Music Building Rm. 144, during office hours.

(d) In person at Mansfield Parks & Recreation.

Fees for groups and ensembles must be paid at the time of registration.

Fees for lessons must be paid prior to the first lesson.



Program Cancellation and Late Registration 

Registration for courses is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Community School of the Arts reserves the right to cancel sections of classes with insufficient enrollment. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be given an opportunity to transfer into another section of the same class, into a different class, or to receive a full refund. Late registrations will be considered on an individual basis for prorated fees.

Missed Lessons and Make-up Policy

Students are charged for all lessons or classes for which they register, including those missed through student absence. As a courtesy, students are expected to notify their teachers of any impending absence. In the case of absence, the student must notify the instructor directly or call the Community School of the Arts at 860-486-1073. PLEASE NOTE: No make-ups will be given for student absences.  A make-up lesson will be scheduled only when a lesson is cancelled due to teacher absence or weather closings. All makeups must occur before the end of the semester in which classes or lessons were missed.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Any request to withdraw from classes or lessons must be made in writing to the Community School of the Arts and approved by the Dean of the School of Fine Arts. Only requests made under extreme circumstances will be honored. Verbal requests will not be considered. Our refund form can be found here.


Free parking is available in E.O. Smith High School parking lots beginning at 2:30pm on weekdays. Parking is available in Lot 1 behind the Fine Arts Complex after 5:00pm on weekdays, and anytime on Saturdays. Additional parking is available in the Mansfield Downtown Parking Garage (free of charge for the first two hours), as well as in front of the music building and E.O. Smith (on-street parking, time limits apply).


Weather Closings

“How do I know if CSA has cancelled a lesson, class, or other program due to poor weather conditions?”

  • We do not necessarily follow local school closings/cancellations.
  • CSA DOES follow UCONN closings/cancellations. If UConn cancels classes, CSA cancels classes, lessons, and other programs.
  • At times, we may cancel classes due to evening, holiday, or weekend weather conditions even though weather does not impact closings at the Storrs campus. Check our website for weather alerts at, our facebook page, or online at WFSB channel 3, or call the Mansfield Parks and Recreation weather line at 860-429-3015 ext. 4. You can sign up for text alerts at the WFSB website.
  • Your teacher will notify you if s/he cancels, but CSA is still open.

Always consider your safety first. Weather and road conditions may vary considerably across the state; therefore, all members of the CSA community must evaluate the circumstances they face.

In the event that we have extreme weather that prevents all travel, CSA will have make-ups at the end of the semester. We will inform you of those possibilities as the need arises.
