Brass Day Festival and Competition

Join us on February 17th for an day-long Brass Festival featuring master classes, workshops and performances by the Bala Brass, the U.S. Coast Guard Brass Quintet, and the University of Connecticut brass faculty.
Highlights will include an opening performance by the US Coast Guard Brass Quintet at 12:00 p.m. This performance is free and open to the public. Following the opening performance will be workshops for high school, college and professional musicians with our guest artists and faculty. There will also be a reading session of brass ensemble music open to all participants during the afternoon. The festival concert will feature the winning high school and college brass quintets from the festival competition, along with festival artists and faculty. The day will conclude with a 7:00 p.m. concert presented by the Bala Brass. Admission is free for festival participants, or with UConn ID, and $10 for the general public.
If you have a high school or college student brass quintet and would like to send an audition recording for the competition, please click here. There is a $300 prize for best high school student quintet, and a $500 prize for best college student quintet.
